Bandi Bear on the hunt for books

Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation’s loveable mascot Bandi Bear is on the hunt for gently-used books in the lead up to next month’s 10th Townsville Book Fair.

Donated books will be sold at the Townsville Book Fair at Fairfield Homemaker Centre, Idalia during the weekend of 17-18 September.

This will be the 10th Townsville Book Fair. First held in 2006, the Townsville Book Fair has raised around $134,000 across nine events.

Funds raised from the event usually support lesser-known activities across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

Recent examples of activities include funding to introduce a nutrition and parent picnic program ($1500), electronic tablets for use by health staff in the community ($4000) and supporting a mental health forum ($600).
