Brighter Lives, a North Queensland charity, is a team of passionate individuals dedicated to improving healthcare for the region. Founded in 1989, they have grown to be the official charity partner for the Townsville Hospital and Health Service, supporting 18 public hospitals, 2 residential aged care facilities, and countless patients, families, and staff. Their work relies heavily on the community's support, alongside the dedication of their 4.5 staff members and 120 volunteers, to ensure everyone in the region has access to better healthcare.
 
As the CEO, you'll lead strategic direction in collaboration with the Board, develop operational plans aligned with Brighter Lives’ values, and ensure long-term viability and growth. Cultivating diverse stakeholder relationships with a focus on revenue growth and ensuring compliance with governance regulations.
 
Main Responsibilities

  • Business Growth: Develop and implement strategic plans, driving revenue growth through partnership agreements and expansion plans.
  • Marketing and Public Relations: Oversee marketing activities, and represent the Foundation across various industries and community groups.
  • Partnerships: Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships with partners, sponsors and community groups.
  • Financial and Risk Management: Oversee budgets, evaluating operations for financial viability and risk management.
  • Staff and Volunteer Management: Leading a small team responsible for implementing operational plans, and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Board Relations: Manage Board activities and strategic planning, fostering positive relationships to benefit the Foundation.
  • Administration: Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Fundraising: liaising with stakeholders within the Hospital and Health Services to identify fundraising opportunities.

 
Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, health services, or not-for-profit management or relevant experience.
  • Ability to lead people through transformational change.
  • Blue Card or eligibility for one issued by the Commission of Children, Young People and Child Guardian.

 
Highly Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in the NGO sector and governance processes.
  • Reporting to a Board.
  • Professional memberships relevant to the position.
  • Background in brand management, marketing, and public relations.
